Last descent time.
Goes on glossy but then turns matteish
But, back to the review.
This product is super smooth, easy to apply. The color lasts all day, literally, but touch ups are needed as with anything else. I apply a lip moisturizer before applying, it helps maintain the look I desire longer without making me feel like I have the Sahara Desert for lips. I've gotten many of compliments on this color. I'll be buying more for sure.
I love how soft and whipped the formula is. I can easily use my finger to smudge and blur the color on my lips. It isn’t transfer-proof but I don’t mind because it leaves a noticeable tint when it wears off. Look forward to purchasing more shades! The one I have now is 44 Chestnut Nude which reminds me of a muted version of Fenty Hot Chocolit.
Not drying at all. However, if your lips are cracked and dry to begin with, it would highlight that dryness as it is matte. The only other downside is that it doesn't stay on for hours as other people may say. It does transfer a bit, especially if you eat.
first pic is just the lip ink on in yellow light, and the second i added a white/clear glitter gloss.
Cons: you MUST let the stain set to expect it to last. Once set without touching your lips together, it'll last through eating, drinking, smoking,...is a bit transferable with kissing.
I didn't notice a smell. If anything it just smells like an unscented cosmetic. There's no fake cupcake smell or flavor, if that's something you like, opt for a scented stain.
First photo: just after applying in the morning, and then blotting once. It’s sort of like a hybrid between a matte liquid lipstick and a lip stain, but it doesn’t have the really drying effect that most matte liquid lipsticks seem to have. What I really liked is that it covered up some areas on my lips that were still recovering from dry winter peeling.
Second photo: after drinking a Starbucks latte. Slightly faded, but still plenty of color.
Third photo: after eating lunch - again, a little bit bit more faded, but still lots of color
Fourth photo: 6 PM and the end of my workday. Pretty impressive! Note that I had not touched up the color at all during the day.
For those complaining it doesn’t look as sheer/ombré as in the product photos: it depends on how you apply. If you put it on just like you would a normal liquid lipstick it will give a full coverage effect. If you want the gradient effect, here’s what you do (it’s easy and takes 20 seconds max, even though there are a few steps):
1. Apply color only to the insides of your lips, closest to your mouth. Apply as much or as little color as you want, it’s buildable.
2. Gently rub your lips together.
3. To ensure a nicely blended gradient effect, use your pinky finger or a small blending brush to tap the place where your lip color meets your natural lips until it looks blended and blurred.
4. Optional - for an even more dramatic gradient effect, take some concealer that matches your skin tone around your mouth, dab it onto your pinky finger or small blending brush, and gently tap onto the edges of your lips until blended seamlessly in with the lip tint.
